HEAVY WEAPONS
M60 M60 was created in the USA and adopted by the US Army in 1950 as a replacement for outdated models M1917 and M1919. In the mid 1980s it was replaced by the newer version M240 (FN MAG) of Belgian design. Even now M60 is still a very powerful weapon with its high grouping, damage and effective range. It basically allows its owner to become the "god of war" until he runs out of ammunition.

RPK RPK (Kalashnikov light machinegun) was created as a support weapon for USSR infantry troops. It is based on the AKM machinegun and was used by USSR Army and many others. RPK is a light machinegun that uses 7.62 mm caliber rounds, has an average effective range, decent grouping and damage but quickly spends its magazine since it can only shoot in burst mode.

DP-27 The DP 27 or Degtyarev Infantry light machine gun was adopted by the Red Army in 1927. Its can be used against human targets and light vehicles. Variations of DP-27 were used as tank and aircraft guns. DP is a gas operated, magazine fed light machine gun. It utilizes a long stroke gas piston, located under the barrel, which operates a bolt with two side-mounted locking flaps. Degtyarev uses a flat pan magazine placed above the barrel and has a folding and unfolding bipod. Cumbersome and heavy, DP-27 cannot compete with modern weapons but can still be used effectively in open areas. Typically, only those who need to improve their heavy weapons skill use this gun.

BARRET M82A1 In 1982 Ronnie Barrett created the first working prototype of semi-automatic rifle Barrett M82 (hence the designation M82). It was chambered for the extremely powerful 12,7 mm ammunition. He produced small quantities of these guns for civilian use and by 1986 founded the Barrett Firearms Company. M82A1 rifle was typically used against targets like light and regular trucks, helicopters, aircraft and so on. Defeating human targets was not a major application of this weapon. Unfortunately, nowadays, this has been forgotten.

Kord Kord is one of the most powerful machine guns of the world of TimeZero at this time. It was designed to be used against light armored vehicles and human targets at distances up to 1500 to 2000 meters. It can also be used against airborne targets for distances up to 1500 meters. Kord uses 12,7 mm ammunition with armor piercing, explosive rounds and armor piercing, tracer rounds via a belt-fed mechanism. Single shot and burst modes are available. Scopes or night sights mounts are standard equipment on Kords. It was developed at Kovrov Mechanikal Plant (ZID - V.A.Degtyarev plant) in early 1990's by A.A. Khamitulin, N.M. Obidin, J.M. Bogdanov and V.I. Zhirokhin. The newly developed gun was named KORD (Large Caliber Degtyarev Weapon); it was air-cooled, gas-operated and had a new design of barrel locking (via breechblock device). After the modernization the gun became lighter, easier to handle and more accurate. Kord passed all tests and was approved by Russian Army for use in 1997.

RPG-7 "RPG-7" is an 85-caliber rocket propelled grenade launcher designed as a weapon against armored vehicles. It can also be used as an anti-personnel weapon if the targets are well protected against small arms fire or are in buildings.

RPO SHMEL "RPO Shmel" (Bumblebee) is a 93-caliber single-shot, self-contained tube shaped launcher. USSR involvement in Afganistan demonstrated that Soviet infantry did not have an effective weapon against fortified enemy forces. Attempts to destroy the enemy forces hidden in clay and brick buildings, bunkers and caves using rocket propelled grenade launchers required a large number of ammunition and regular flame throwers were not effective due their short effective range. Thus, in 1984 Soviet Army requested a new weapon to be designed, one that would be able to carry a thermobaric warhead. In 1988 RPO was adopted for Soviet Army use under "Shmel" name. Originally, it was used by the chemical forces branch but later was adopted by all Army branches.
